Lions' Jameson Williams suspended for 2 games due to PED policy violation
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The NFL announced Thursday that Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been suspended for two games without pay for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Williams will be eligible for reinstatement on Nov. 4, after the Lions’ Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers, according to the league
The announcement followed Jameson Williams' decision not to appeal and to accept the league's punishment. In a statement shared through his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, Williams expressed surprise, saying, 'The news came as a complete surprise, and I'm still trying to understand it.
I don't take supplements or vitamins, and I'm extremely cautious about even using over-the-counter medicine," Williams stated. "I've never taken anything to cheat or gain an unfair advantage. I understand I'm responsible for everything that goes into my body, and I take accountability for this situation."
Williams, who has participated in Lions practices over the last two days, said he was notified of the violation by the league this week. Previously, he served a four-game suspension in 2023 for violating the NFL's gambling policy by placing mobile bets on non-NFL games from a team facility. His rookie season was also impacted, as he missed the first 11 games due to an ACL injury from his college career.
Selected 12th overall from Alabama in the 2022 draft, Williams currently ranks second on the Lions with 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns
