Sources: Chiefs Nearing Trade Agreement for Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins

The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are close to finalizing a trade that would send wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City, according to league sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.


The part of the deal, the Titans will receive a 2025 fifth-round pick, which could upgrade to a fourth-rounder if the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays at least 60% of the team's snaps, sources say. Tennessee will also cover $2.5 million of Hopkins' remaining $8 million salary for this season. The trade is expected to be completed by Wednesday.

The head coach Andy Reid, when asked about the trade before Wednesday’s practice, avoided confirmation, saying general manager Brett Veach was handling the matter. Pressed further, Reid, with a slight smile, said, "I know nothing."

The City has been in need of wide receiver help since Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending right knee injury in Week 4. Additionally, the team lost Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a preseason shoulder injury, and JuJu Smith-Schuster was recently ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a hamstring injury.


The , a 12-year NFL veteran, is in the final year of the two-year deal he signed with the Titans in July 2023. He had a torn MCL in the offseason but recovered in time for the season opener.
